Frequently Asked Questions
What types of fires can a water extinguisher put out?
Water extinguishers are rated for Class A fires only fires involving solid combustibles such as wood, paper, textiles, rubber, and plastics. They are not suitable for flammable liquid, gas, electrical, or cooking oil fires. For mixed-risk environments, an ABE extinguisher is more versatile.
Can I use a water extinguisher on an electrical fire?
No. Water conducts electricity and must never be used on live electrical equipment. If there is any risk of electrical fires in your environment, choose a CO2 or ABE dry chemical extinguisher instead.
Why choose a water extinguisher over ABE powder?
Water extinguishers leave no chemical residue after use — no powder to clean up, no damage to equipment or documents. They’re ideal for offices, libraries, schools, and any space where a powder discharge would cause unnecessary damage or disruption.
How often does a water extinguisher need to be serviced?
Every 6 months for inspection and annually for a full service by a licensed fire protection technician, as required by AS 1851. A maintenance test tag is included.
Does it come with a wall bracket?
Yes — a wall bracket and maintenance test tag are included as standard.
